TD Business Digital Account

Our take: the closest thing to a like-for-like rival to RBC’s $6 digital account — same price, same 10 e-Transfers, unlimited electronic transactions — but it charges $5.00 per $1,000 on cash deposits, the highest of the big banks.

Included each monthUnlimited electronic transactions and deposit items, plus 10 Interac e-Transfers.

The TD Business Digital Account is TD’s entry-level business chequing plan and a direct competitor to RBC Digital Choice: $6 a month, unlimited electronic transactions through the TD app, EasyWeb and ATMs, unlimited deposit items, and 10 Interac e-Transfers included. Where it differs is at the counter. Assisted transactions cost $2.50 each and cash deposits cost $5.00 per $1,000 — roughly double what BMO charges — so the further your business is from purely digital, the more this account costs relative to its rivals.

Pros and Cons

What works

  • Unlimited electronic transactions and unlimited deposit items for $6 a month.
  • No minimum balance required to open or maintain the account.
  • Ten Interac e-Transfers included each month, matching RBC and more than BMO’s six.
  • TD publishes its cash and assisted transaction rates clearly on the product page, which not every bank does.

What to watch

  • Cash deposits cost $5.00 per $1,000 — double BMO’s $2.50 and the highest among the big-bank entry accounts we compared.
  • Assisted (in-branch) transactions are $2.50 each, so branch use gets expensive quickly.
  • No minimum-balance waiver, so the $6 is unavoidable.
  • No interest is paid on the balance.

What It Costs

$6Monthly account fee, with no balance waiver
$0Unlimited electronic transactions and deposit items
$1.50Each Interac e-Transfer beyond the 10 included per month
$5.00Per $1,000 of cash deposited
$2.50Each assisted (in-branch) transaction
A retailer depositing $10,000 of cash a month would pay about $50 in deposit fees here against roughly $25 at BMO — on a $6 account, the cash rate matters far more than the monthly fee.

How Your Money Is Protected

TD Canada Trust is a CDIC member institution. Eligible deposits are insured by the Canada Deposit Insurance Corporation up to $100,000 per depositor, per insured category.

Who It’s For

A good fit if

  • Your business banks digitally and deposits little or no cash.
  • You already bank with TD personally and want your business banking alongside it.
  • You want unlimited electronic transactions without a minimum balance.

Look elsewhere if

  • You are a cash-heavy business — the $5.00 per $1,000 rate is the worst of the entry-level big-bank accounts.
  • You rely on branch service; assisted transactions are $2.50 each.
  • You want interest on your operating balance.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does the TD Business Digital Account cost?

$6 a month, with no minimum balance required to open or maintain it and no balance waiver available.

How many Interac e-Transfers are included?

Ten per month. Beyond that they cost $1.50 each. That matches RBC Digital Choice and beats BMO’s Essential Business Account, which includes six.

What does it cost to deposit cash?

$5.00 per $1,000 deposited. That is the highest rate among the entry-level big-bank business accounts we compared — BMO charges $2.50 per $1,000 — so a cash-heavy business should weigh that carefully against the identical $6 monthly fee.

Is there a fee for using a branch?

Yes. Assisted transactions cost $2.50 each. The account is priced as a digital plan, so routine branch banking is charged rather than included.

Does the account pay interest?

No. TD does not advertise interest on this account. Businesses holding a surplus balance typically pair an operating account with a separate business savings account.
