The WestJet RBC World Elite Mastercard is a co-branded Canadian travel credit card issued by RBC in partnership with WestJet, relaunched in late 2025 with a higher annual fee, new trip cancellation and mobile device insurance, and revised earning categories. It targets frequent WestJet flyers who can meet RBC’s high income-eligibility requirements and who’ll use benefits like the free checked bag, annual companion voucher, and elevated points on travel and everyday spending.

  • Sizeable welcome bonus relative to the annual fee
  • Meaningful travel insurance suite (trip cancellation, interruption, emergency medical)
  • Annual companion voucher and free checked bags add value for frequent WestJet flyers
  • Status Lift: card spending counts toward WestJet elite tier-qualifying spend

Cons

  • High income requirement excludes many applicants
  • $139 annual fee, plus cost per additional cardholder
  • Lounge benefit is a paid-per-visit membership, not free access
  • Fixed, non-transferable point value limits redemption upside

RBC relaunched this card in late 2025 with a higher annual fee and new insurance benefits — some older reviews and cached documents still describe pre-relaunch terms. We’ve used the current post-relaunch terms here; confirm directly with RBC before applying, since welcome-bonus tranche amounts also appear to vary by promotional landing page.

Who It’s For

Best for

  • Canadians who meet the income threshold and fly WestJet or Sunwing regularly
  • Households who travel together and can use the companion voucher and free checked bags
  • Cardholders who want built-in trip insurance without buying a separate policy

Not ideal for

  • Applicants who don’t meet the income requirement
  • Travelers who fly a mix of airlines rather than mostly WestJet/Sunwing
  • Occasional travelers unlikely to justify the $139 annual fee
