Best Business Credit Cards in Canada
Business credit cards are rated the same way we rate personal cards — earning potential across a realistic spending mix, weighed against the annual fee, using each issuer’s published rates — with the cards most Canadian small businesses can actually apply for.
Short answer: The TD Aeroplan Visa Business Card is our top business card (4.9/5). It charges 14.99% on purchases, roughly five points below most business rewards cards, carries a full travel and purchase insurance package, earns Aeroplan points, and rebates its $149 fee in the first year. For transferable points, the RBC Avion Visa Infinite Business (#2) is the stronger pick; for straightforward cash back, the Scotia Momentum for business Visa pays 3% across five common business categories. Figures checked September 17, 2026 against issuer pages.

First, check whether you need a business card at all
Most Canadian issuers let a sole proprietor or side-business owner apply with their own name and Social Insurance Number rather than a registered business number, so being unincorporated is rarely the barrier people expect it to be. That also means a personal card stays on the table. Personal cards often earn at a higher rate on everyday categories such as groceries and gas, and the annual fee frequently buys more travel insurance. What a business card adds is separation of business and household spending at tax time, employee cards with individual limits, and a credit limit set against business revenue rather than personal income. Whether business spending stays off your personal credit file depends on the issuer, so confirm it rather than assuming. It is worth comparing the personal card you would otherwise carry before you decide.

Common Questions
Do Business Credit Cards Require an Incorporated Business?
Not usually. Most Canadian issuers accept sole proprietors as well as incorporated businesses, and several ask only for a business name and revenue estimate. What they almost always require is a personal guarantee from the owner, meaning you are personally responsible for the balance if the business does not pay.
Does a Business Card Affect My Personal Credit Score?
It can. Most Canadian small-business cards are underwritten against the owner’s personal credit, so the application itself typically causes a hard inquiry. Whether ongoing balances and payments report to your personal credit file varies by issuer — ask before applying if you are protecting a personal credit score for a mortgage.
Is Business Credit Card Interest Tax Deductible?
Interest on borrowing for business purposes is generally deductible, while interest on personal spending is not — which is one practical reason to keep business and personal spending on separate cards. Tax treatment depends on your situation, so confirm it with an accountant rather than relying on a general rule.
What Is the Difference Between a Business Card and a Corporate Card?
A small-business card is issued against the owner’s personal credit with a personal guarantee, and is aimed at businesses of any size. A corporate card is issued against the company’s own credit, usually requires substantial revenue, and typically carries no personal guarantee. Every card ranked on this page is a small-business card.
How Many Employee Cards Can I Add?
It varies widely. Several cards on this list include supplementary cards at no charge, others charge $29 to $50 per card per year, and BMO’s premium business tier allows up to 22 additional cards. Where a card rebates additional card fees in the first year, we note it in the card’s stats.
